what are the advantages and disadvantages of presidential system ?

ADVANTAGES:
a)stability:a fixed term presidency is more stable than a prime minister who can be dismissed at any time
b) A prime minister only stays in office as long as he has the support of his party, he can be dismissed without reference to the electorate.
c)separation of power: a presidential system establishes the presidency and the legislature as two parallel structures. Supporters say that this arrangement allows each structure to monitor and check the other, preventing abuses.
d)SPEED - some argue that a president with strong powers can usually enact changes quickly. However, others argue that the separation of powers slows the system down.
DISADVANTAGES
a)authoritarianiaism:-some political scientists say that presidentialism is not constitutionally stable.
b)A disadvantage is that in a presidential system you have the presidency and legislature working as two parallel structures which creates gridlock, and that it reduces accountability by allowing the president and the legislature to shift blame to each other. Rather than reviewing and debating legislation proposed by the executive, the legislature is setting policy which the executive has to administer
